1890 Starck Set

Here's some pic's of that old (suspected) Starck set won on ebay recently by George Hannah. From George's notes: "It has been refurbed at some stage in the past. The caps are a good alternate ivory. The beading/combing and profile/shape is consistent with early Starck pipes from late 1890's. It appears to be cocuswood (perhaps Brazillian Kingswood) and of course nickel ferrules. It was listed as either Starck or Gillander, but I believe it to be Starck. It has a lovely tone too."

Starcks have long been categorised by their full and steady sound. The turners from Starck, once it closed, I understand went to Naill Bagpipes. Naills have a similarly full sound.
